Highlights
Your best chance to see the northern lights in Alta is to be out under the night sky as often as you can. This tour takes you outdoors for a cozy “slow adventure” – a perfect way to spend an evening in good company on a leisurely local northern lights hunt. Your ride will take you through the forest and along the Alta River until you arrive at firehouse/ gapahuk depending on the weather and time of year, here we take a break. A late, light dinner will be served around a fire, protected from the weather by the shelter’s half-wall. Along with conversation and local stories, if the conditions are right you might even have a chance to take a few pictures of the aurora in the sky!

About Alta
Alta is a town in Arctic Norway, known for ancient rock carvings, the northern lights, midnight sun and a great salmon river running to a fjord.
Alta lies at the head of Altafjord in Finnmark, the northernmost county of mainland Norway, where pine and birch forests give way to open mountain plateau. Its rock art, thousands of carvings of reindeer, boats and people made between about 4000 BC and 500 BC, is listed by UNESCO, and the Alta Museum explains it with boardwalk trails around the carved rock faces. The Northern Lights Cathedral, a spiralling titanium-clad church, is a landmark in the centre.
