Highlights
We offer a tour for a small group to enjoy togetherness and excitement while hunting for Northern Lights in the beautiful landscapes of the Altafjord. We arrange organized guided tours since 2007 and have the knowledge about how to find the Northern Lights if the conditions are there. On our tours you normally will have 80-90 % chance of seeing this spectacular view. Each tour is different, as we focus on finding the optimal place with the greatest chance of seeing the lights. We therefore sometimes have to drive quite far to find them, while sometimes we find them in the surrounding area. Necessary driving distance decide whether we establish a camp with a fire, or whether we serve hot chocolate and snacks at one of our short stops. While enjoying the great outdoors, we will share with you local stories about Norwegian way of living, local history from the Stone Age, Sami culture, reindeer-herding, 2nd World War and the modern society in Alta. We are normally back just over midnight.

Dress warm! We stopped 3 times and the lights just got more fantastic. The Mercedes minivan was just the right size, 15 pax, for easy on/off. Clean and comfortable. The lights were fantastic and the night sky was brilliant. Tor-bjorn was an informative guide and the driver was excellent. It was truly a magical experience!!
2Disappointed
We stuck in a classroom for more than 30mins to learn about the northern lights when there was only a short window of clear sky outside. When we finally got out the sky is already cloudy and we missed the best of the northern lights. Asked the guide to put light on our faces with a torch for photos but apparently the guide doesnt know about the trick which is surprising. We want to go further south to chase the lights but they only stopped at a few pre-determined stops. It feels like they just want to finish early and go home. It is a huge let down especially compared to what we managed to do in similar tour in Tromso which is much cheaper and the team was much more experienced.
5Beautiful night of lights
Since our ship was overnight in Alta, we wanted to go searching for the lights. This tour was a much cheaper option than what was offered by the ship. They conveniently pick up and return to the port. It had been cloudy all day so we weren’t expecting much but we kept driving further north away from town through many tunnels before we reached a location that they felt was promising. We were rewarded with a beautiful display that got better the longer we stayed. They served hot chocolate and pastries in the van and set up a tripod to take pictures which we really appreciated. We’re glad we chose this tour especially since we met several people on our cruise that paid much more but didn’t see any lights.
5Spectacular Northern Lights
Our tour guide was excellent. He gave a short scientific lecture about the northern lights. Talked to us on the drive out to the best area for that nights sighting. He knew exactly where they could be best seen and he was spot on at our third stop. We saw and photographed the most spectacular auroras! The trip was so worth it and our guides were the best!!! Would highly recommend!!
5Northern lights tour
Our tour guide and driver were very knowledgeable, easy to understand, and really worked hard to get us the best views of the northern lights. The tour and the lights were much better than I expected.
5Great Northern Lights Experience
Book this trip, now! Great Northern Lights experience with a friendly and helpful guide. Pick-up location was extremely convenient for cruise ship travelers. Family owned small business.

About Alta
Alta is a town in Arctic Norway, known for ancient rock carvings, the northern lights, midnight sun and a great salmon river running to a fjord.
Alta lies at the head of Altafjord in Finnmark, the northernmost county of mainland Norway, where pine and birch forests give way to open mountain plateau. Its rock art, thousands of carvings of reindeer, boats and people made between about 4000 BC and 500 BC, is listed by UNESCO, and the Alta Museum explains it with boardwalk trails around the carved rock faces. The Northern Lights Cathedral, a spiralling titanium-clad church, is a landmark in the centre.
