5beautiful day in Provence
it was absolutely delightful and very informative. From Roman ruins to incredible wine tasting, fantastic day!
5A great way to visit key sites in provence
Marion was an excellent guide! She was knowledgeable about the area and sites we were visiting. We had a good amount of time to visit at each location, and it was helpful that Marion had little maps of each location we could scan so we knew the key sites. I was very happy to have only a 6 person group for this one—it was a very long, very hot day—having a bit of space to relax and cooldown in the van between stops was a bonus.
5Excellent Day Trip for Independent Travelers
I don't often leave reviews, but this tour absolutely deserves one. I had just spent five days based in Provence and wanted to visit several places that, in my view, would have been difficult to reach efficiently without renting a car or constantly changing hotels. I had settled on staying first in Arles and then in Aix-en-Provence (both with museums I was keen to visit), but I also wanted to see iconic sites like Pont du Gard and the Palais des Papes in Avignon. This tour—which also incorporated Les Baux-de-Provence and a winery in Châteauneuf-du-Pape—made it possible to experience all of them in a single, well-organized day. I felt I had enough time to appreciate each stop, and I always appreciate small-group tours that eliminate the need to drive, park, and figure out all the logistics. All in all, this trip was an excellent value and a perfect way to see some of Provence's most famous sites. As a bonus, while in Arles I had fallen in love with the legendary Mistral winds, so it was fun to return to that part of the region one last time before heading home! Our guide, Audrey, was friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating throughout the day. One final note deserves special mention. I accidentally left my prescription sunglasses in the van after the tour. They were very important to me, and Audrey and everyone at A la Française went above and beyond to locate them and arrange for their return. That level of customer service—especially after the tour had ended—left as much of an impression on me as the tour itself.
5Nice day out of the city
Really enjoyed the tour with Laurent and Emmanuel. They were a great team. Failing getting out of the city for a day.
5An amazing wine tour with Greg
What a fantastic day exploring Provence and Châteauneuf-du-Pape with Greg as our guide. Greg shared a wealth of interesting stories and local knowledge throughout the tour, making every stop both engaging and memorable. The scenery was absolutely stunning, the wine tastings were excellent, and the entire experience was relaxed, enjoyable, and perfectly organized. If you’re looking for an authentic and informative wine tour in the region, we highly recommend Greg. Thank you for an amazing day – we will definitely be back! / The Swedes
Aix-en-Provence is an elegant university town in Provence, with plane-shaded boulevards, fountains, markets and the hills Cézanne painted.
Aix-en-Provence was founded by the Romans in 122 BC beside hot springs and later became the capital of Provence. The Cours Mirabeau, a broad avenue shaded by plane trees, divides the old town from the newer quarter, with cafés on one side and old mansions on the other, and fountains run in the small squares behind. Thermal springs still feed its baths.
Top-ranked sights in Aix-en-Provence: Cours Mirabeau, Lake of Sainte-Croix (Lac de Sainte-Croix), Valensole Plateau (Plateau De Valensole).
