Itinerary
The statue was built in 1927 and consecrated on October 30, 1927. Financed by the local lawyer Aires de Ornelas and his wife, created by French artists Georges Serraz and Pierre Charles Lenoir. The statue was completed 4 years before Christ the Redeemer statue in Brazil.
Pico do Areeiro Viewpoint is located at the second highest point on Madeira Island, at 1,818 meters above sea level. From this viewpoint there is an excellent panoramic view of the central mountains of Madeira Island.
We will stop in this amazing laurissilva fresh paradise to visit the trout farming and look at the Madeira forest.
We visit the beautiful landscape of the North East of the Island from this magnificent viewpoint where we can see still Faial and Pico Areeiro.

About Funchal
Funchal is the capital of Madeira, a Portuguese island in the Atlantic, set on steep green hills with flower-filled gardens and a seafront old town.
Funchal spreads up a steep hillside above a natural harbour on Madeira's south coast. The old town, the Zona Velha, has narrow lanes with painted doors and small restaurants, and the cathedral dates from around 1500. The Mercado dos Lavradores sells tropical fruit, fish and flowers in a hall decorated with blue tiles. A cable car climbs from the harbourfront to Monte, high above.
