Itinerary
Early Morning Pickup & Scenic Drive Your Rainbow Mountain adventure begins with an early pickup from your hotel in Cusco at approximately 4:00 a.m. We travel for about 3 hours through the South Valley, enjoying panoramic views of traditional Andean villages, ancient Inca agricultural terraces, wide valleys, and impressive high altitude mountain landscapes on our way to Japura (3,951 m), the starting point of the experience.
Andean Breakfast & ATV Experience Upon arrival, enjoy a hearty Andean breakfast to recharge. After breakfast, we begin an exciting ATV ride of approximately 20 minutes toward Qosqopata, surrounded by stunning views of Ausangate Mountain and its glaciers. This section of the journey significantly reduces walking time, making the experience more comfortable and accessible.
Cultural Interaction with Local Communities In Qosqopata, you will have the opportunity to interact with local Quechua families, who continue to preserve their ancestral traditions. Learn about traditional clothing, the cultural meaning behind the different hats worn by men, and daily life in the Andes. Your guide may even teach you a few basic Quechua words, enriching the cultural aspect of the tour.
Short Hike to Rainbow Mountain From Qosqopata, we take a short and easy hike to Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca) at 5,200 m. Once at the summit, enjoy 20–30 minutes to admire the vibrant natural colors, explore the surroundings, take photos, and fully appreciate this unique high Andean landscape.
Return Journey & Lunch After descending, we walk back to Qosqopata to ride the ATVs back to Japura, where a well deserved lunch awaits. We then begin the 3 hour drive back to Cusco, arriving at your hotel at approximately 5:00 p.m.

About Cusco
Cusco, the old Inca capital high in the Peruvian Andes, blends massive stone walls with colonial churches and is the gateway to Machu Picchu.
The Plaza de Armas is the heart of the city, framed by the cathedral and the Jesuit church of La Compañía. Inca stonework survives throughout the centre, most famously at the Qorikancha, the sun temple on which the Spanish built a monastery, and in the twelve-angled stone on Hatun Rumiyoc street. San Blas, the artisans' quarter, climbs steeply with workshops and cafés.
Top-ranked sights in Cusco: Aguas Calientes, Machu Picchu, Ollantaytambo Ruins.
