  • 5Magical Plitvice National Park

What an amazing experience! Our guide Maja was excellent! She shared the history of Croatia and the National Park. The weather was perfect and the sights were incredible. We did a small group, 8 people max in a van. I highly recommend!!

  • 3Rush, Walk, Dodge

Croatia is a beautiful country and Plitvice Lakes National Park might be the most beautiful part of all. Absolutely breathtaking. Unfortunately, the pace of the tour left little time to enjoy the scenery. A lot of energy was spent navigating the crowds and the sheer physicality of the tour. Bring lots of water as there are very few places to get more water. Rastoke Village was a gentle fairytale start to the day but squeezing in both the Lower and Upper Lakes made the pace for the rest of the day hectic. There is a touristy area in between the Upper and Lower Lakes, but the crowds meant long lines and few places to sit and eat. I will say again, bring lots of water! The walk through the Lower Lakes was low effort. However, dodging people and trying to take pictures as the tour group relentlessly kept moving was a challenge. There was a break at the touristy lunch area and then a short boat ride to begin the ascent to the Upper Lakes. Stone stairs, trails, more wooden boardwalks up and then back down. And just when you think you have finished - there is the last leg to the bus parking lot – not close at all. The beauty of the natural scenery needs energy to be enjoyed – the effort required to survive this tour detracted from the park. Starting at the highest elevation and working down would have made the day much more enjoyable.

  • 5A Must See

This trip was amazing from start to finish! On the drive, in a very comfortable passenger van, our guide gave us head sets to use as she explained the history and culture of Croatia! The town of Rastoke was so very beautiful! What a great stop! Plavice National Park is a must see - an amazing UNESCO site! The pace of the hike around the lower and upper lakes was perfect! The guides timing was perfect for all 8 people in our group! Walking and stopping to discuss sites was very informative!

About Zagreb

Zagreb is Croatia's capital, a city of two historic towns, cathedral spires, café-lined streets and green parks beneath Mount Medvednica.

Zagreb has two historic halves. The Upper Town, Gornji Grad, sits on a hill with cobbled lanes, the tiled-roof church of St Mark and the Lotrščak Tower, from which a cannon is fired at noon each day. Below, the Lower Town has Austro-Hungarian squares, theatres and museums around Ban Jelačić Square, with the twin neo-Gothic spires of the cathedral just east and a short funicular linking the two parts.

Top-ranked sights in Zagreb: Ban Jelačić Square (Trg Bana Jelačića), Gric Tunnel (Tunel Gric), Dolac Market.
