Itinerary
Our first tasting stop takes us to one of Parma’s oldest salumerie, where you’ll sample a carefully selected assortment of the region’s most iconic cured meats. From Prosciutto di Parma to other traditional salumi, each bite tells the story of local craftsmanship and time-honored techniques, all perfectly paired with a refreshing local wine.
As we continue walking, we head toward one of the city’s most iconic landmarks, the Palazzo della Pilotta, a vast historic complex that reflects Parma’s past as an important ducal capital. Along the way, we stop at an authentic cheese shop to taste the king of Italian cheeses: Parmigiano Reggiano. Here, you’ll learn what makes this product so unique while sampling different aged varieties.
Next, we visit a local bakery to taste one of the region’s most beloved savory specialties. At Panetteria Anna, we enjoy a delicious strip of erbazzone, a traditional baked pastry filled with greens, cheese, and herbs that represents the everyday comfort food of Emilia-Romagna.
Strolling through Piazza Garibaldi, the main square of the city and the heart of public life, we stop at one of Parma’s most traditional salumeria-restaurants. Here, you’ll enjoy a tasting of freshly handmade pasta, a true symbol of local cuisine, prepared according to time-honored recipes passed down through generations.
End with a classic local sweet from a historic shop, a proud expression of Parma’s home-style dessert tradition.

5Fantastic Food Tour with a True Local
We had a wonderful food tour with Sam! She was incredibly friendly and a very knowledgeable local guide. Every stop was fantastic, and we loved getting to taste some of the best food Parma has to offer. The surprise stop was such a fun touch! We also really appreciated Sam’s recommendations for places to eat in Bologna, where we were staying next. It was so special to have a true local show us around, share the history of Parma, and introduce us to the food and culture of the city. Highly recommend this tour!

About Parma
Parma, in Emilia-Romagna, is a refined food city of Romanesque and Renaissance buildings, famed for its ham and cheese and for opera.
Parma's cathedral and its pink-marble baptistery, begun by the sculptor Benedetto Antelami in the 1190s, stand side by side in the main piazza, and Correggio painted the swirling Assumption of the Virgin in the cathedral dome. The Palazzo della Pilotta, a vast Farnese palace, holds the National Gallery and the wooden Teatro Farnese. The Teatro Regio is one of Italy's respected opera houses, and Verdi and Toscanini both have strong ties to the city.
