About Foshan
Foshan, a Guangdong city beside Guangzhou, is the home of Cantonese lion dancing and kung fu, with an ancestral temple, ceramics and an old dragon kiln.
Foshan lies in the Pearl River Delta south-west of Guangzhou, so close that the two cities share a metro line, and it has been a manufacturing town for centuries. The Ancestral Temple, a Taoist temple founded in the Song era and rebuilt in the Ming, has ornate roof ridges of ceramic figures, and the martial artists Wong Fei-hung and Ip Man both came from Foshan.
