  • 4Great street food tour in Mérida!

Great street food tour in Mérida! Diego was a very pleasant guide and took us to places we would never have found on our own. We tasted many delicious local fruits and specialties while exploring the food markets. There was perhaps a bit too much food and the tour could have been slightly shorter. We learned a lot about the Mexican life and food culture. Highly recommended! 🌮

  • 5Very nice experience

This morning we did a street food tour with Luz, a local guide, through Mérida's market. It was busy, since the schools are on holiday, and between stalls selling clothes, bags, and mopeds, we tasted our way through Mexican cuisine. We also tried unusual (for us) fruits like pitahaya, sapote, and the large Yucatecan avocado (delicious with just sour orange and salt), spicy herb pastes for seasoning meat, and colorful candy made from fruit and meringue. After the market we had ceviche with tacos at a hidden fish restaurant, finishing with ice cream in the most surprising flavors. A really lovely morning full of color, scent, and friendly people. We like it a lot! Luz was very friendly and kind!

  • 5One of the highlights of our trip to Mexico

We joined the Street Food Tour on May 16th with our guide, Diego, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip to Mexico! Since it was the low season, the tour became a private experience for just my husband and me, which made it even more special. Diego introduced us to a wide variety of fruits, meats, and traditional dishes that we had never tried before. The tour took place across several local markets in Mérida, giving us a genuine insight into everyday life in the city. As Belgians, we are sometimes a bit cautious about eating at local markets when we are unfamiliar with the hygiene standards, but we felt completely comfortable throughout the tour and everything was perfectly fine. It was an excellent way to discover the local food culture and get to know the markets from an insider's perspective. Diego was incredibly knowledgeable and shared lots of interesting information about the food, the markets, and local traditions. He was also happy to answer all of our questions, which made the experience even more enjoyable. In short: we highly recommend this tour! If I hear that friends or family are planning a trip to Mérida, I will definitely recommend this company to them.

  • 5Food Tour of the Mérida Market

The tour was fantastic and exceeded all of our expectations. It was important to us that our tour guide spoke fluent English and was an effective communicator. Our tour guide was Diego Hernandez and met both of these requirements. The food was excellent with an assorted variety of fruits and meat. Diego guided through the experience in a relaxed unrushed manner. The tour was excellent value for the price we paid. I would strongly recommend this tour to anyone and everyone. Definitely a fun and rewarding experience

About Mérida

Mérida, capital of Yucatán, is a Spanish colonial city of grand boulevards and mansions, a base for Maya ruins, cenotes and flamingo lagoons.

Francisco de Montejo the Younger founded Mérida in 1542 on the site of a Maya town, and stone from its temples went into the cathedral and houses. The Plaza Grande is the heart of the city, with the cathedral of San Ildefonso, the Governor's Palace, whose walls are covered by murals of Maya history, and the Casa de Montejo, with an ornate carved façade. The low colonial houses of the centre gave the city its nickname, the White City.

Top-ranked sights in Mérida: Chacchoben, Merida Cathedral (Catedral de San Ildefonso), Main Square (Plaza Grande).
