Experience the best of Puerto Vallarta
Cobbled streets, a seaside boardwalk and jungle-clad mountains give Puerto Vallarta, on Mexico's Banderas Bay, its easy Pacific charm.

The Malecón, a long seafront boardwalk lined with bronze sculptures, links the old town with restaurants, bars and galleries, and the parish church of Guadalupe crowns the centre with its distinctive crown-topped tower. The Romantic Zone, south of the Cuale River, has cobbled lanes, Los Muertos Beach and its pier, and a lively evening scene.
Banderas Bay is one of the largest bays in Mexico and rich in marine life, with humpback whales from about December to March, dolphins and sea turtles. Boats head to the Marietas Islands and their hidden beach, to the rock formations of Los Arcos and to secluded villages such as Yelapa, reached only by sea. The jungle hills offer zip lines, botanical gardens and hiking.
Pescado zarandeado, fish grilled over wood, is the local signature, alongside tacos and raicilla, a local agave spirit. The dry season from November to April brings sunny days, summer is hot and humid with rain, and the hurricane season runs into autumn. Sayulita and the surf towns of the Riviera Nayarit lie to the north.
