5Wine Tasting Lyon
I follow podcast Fishwives in Paris and winedinecaroline on Instagram and learned about the wine tasting. My husband, son, and I went to the wine tasting on September 30. We had a very knowledgeable sommelier that educated us about the various terroirs close to Lyon and how they vary as well as how to use your senses to taste wine. As we tasted each wine we tried to determine the region of the wine and the variety and I found that I was able to guess what kind of wine I was tasting. Lovely cheeses and charcuteries were provided to complement the wine Detailed directions were provided to find the location of the tasting. I highly recommend this wine tasting in Lyon
5Fun and educational
My wife and I booked this and had a group of 8 others participate with us, most were couples. Our sommelier guide was Julia and we had so much fun. We also learned a lot about the region, the grapes, the local food and different wines. We had four full pours of wine, two white and two red, but our group was able to finish any remaining wine! It was really fun to revisit the ones we loved. This experience bright us to an area of Lyon we would not have otherwise seen, which we enjoyed. Highly recommend.
5Great wine tasting experience
Great learning experience Julia was a fantastic teacher Brought together all the different wines of the local area
5Caroline was so much fun!...
Caroline was so much fun! She really shared a lot about wine in the region and the wines she chose were very good. The walk up the hill was well worth it!
5Relaxed small-group tasting experience.
A very informative but relaxed afternoon gaining some insights into the wines of (mainly) Burgundy, Beaujolais, the Rhône. Margaret Rose (le sommelier) is very knowledgable, practical and engaging in her approach. I learned some practical tips about tasting and wine pairing which I hope to use in the future.
5French wine tasting

About Lyon
Lyon, where the Rhône and Saône meet, is a Roman and Renaissance city of covered passageways, long called the capital of French cooking.
Lyon spreads across two rivers and two hills. On Fourvière hill, the white basilica looks down over the Roman theatres of Lugdunum, once the capital of Gaul, while the Renaissance old town below has narrow streets and covered passageways, the traboules, that silk workers used to carry cloth. The old town and the slopes of Croix-Rousse, the silk weavers' hill, are part of the UNESCO-listed historic site.
Top-ranked sights in Lyon: Old Lyon (Vieux Lyon), Traboules of Lyon, Lyon Cathedral (Cathédrale St-Jean).
