Itinerary
Discover the Loire Valley at a relaxed, unhurried pace on this full day escape from Paris. Rather than rushing through multiple castles, this thoughtfully designed itinerary gives you more time to explore two of France's most iconic châteaux, Chambord and Chenonceau, while also enjoying free time in the charming town of Blois and a complimentary local wine experience.
From Paris, you’ll head first to Chambord Castle. Disney fans will find this castle’s turrets familiar; it was the inspiration for the castle in ‘Beauty and the Beast’. Though originally conceived as a royal hunting lodge, it was built to a scale that must be seen to be believed. You’ll learn all about the castle’s captivating history from your guide, before getting your own chance to explore. Climb a staircase supposedly designed by Da Vinci; enjoy spectacular turret-framed rooftop views; glimpse wild deer around the grounds; and work up an appetite for the next stop.
Arriving in Blois, pass by the impressive Château Royal de Blois, a former royal residence that showcases four distinct architectural styles. Your guide will point out its highlights and share insights into its role in French royal history.
Having worked up an appetite, we'll get back on the bus and on to our next stop - the quaint town of Blois, where you’ll get some free time to enjoy lunch in one of the restaurants located around the beautiful and vibrant Square Louis XII.
Last but not least is a visit to the elegant Chenonceau Castle. Your visit starts with a complementary wine tasting in the castle’s vaulted wine cellar. Then, carry on with a self-guided visit of the chapel, bedrooms and magnificent vaulted kitchens which are still furnished and decorated from times gone by, showing off the castle’s many sweeping stone carvings. Don’t miss the impressive main hall, which spans the river Cher, or the gardens cultivated by Diane de Poitiers and Catherine de Medici – two of the famous owners that earned Chenonceau the nickname ‘the Ladies’ Castle

5The places we saw were...
The places we saw were beautiful! The area is beautiful. Not enough time at each place to really see all we wanted to see. The wine tasting was a bonus! Go and enjoy! Beautiful country!
5A wonderful trip back in history
This was a great trip out to the Loire Valley. It was well paced and we also visited an historic town along the way. It is a long day but very much worth it. So many beautiful places to see and experience during the day.

5Very worthwhile tour
This is a full day tour but is broken up into multiple segments as you move between locations. Very worthwhile. My wife and I enjoyed the tour very much. Our tour guide, Laurence, was very knowledgeable and helpful and was one of the reasons the tour was a success.
3The tour is nice but could be better planned + serviced for such a cost
The Guide and the castles were great! The wine tasting was fun too. However, during our trip, when we stopped for lunch, most of the places for lunch were closed and not accessible. In fact, most of the stores in the city we stopped in were also closed. We only had a 2 hour window to eat in and also try to explore a bit of the city we were in. So we were rushing to eat what we could at the restaurant which was overwhelmed with most of us from the tour coming at once. Once we finished, we found out no stores were really open to go into anyway. It was a let down and felt rushed. For the cost per person, I would have appreciated more care to details like this. To have a restaurant booked in advance or to not schedule such a small time-frame to eat + explore a city on a day they're closed. I also think it was odd to not even include a free water bottle (you have to pay a euro) or any small snacks. Especially when the tour needs people to be at the starting location by 7 am. Overall, the tour did cover what I'd like it to and was fairly nice but these issues I mentioned above did leave a more meh feeling overall for me.
