Itinerary

  1. n Inkilltambo sectors with different uses are appreciated: the first to be observed is the agricultural sector, notable for the cultivation terraces; while in the upper part the ceremonial, storage and other structures seem fused with boundaries not entirely clear. Recent restoration works on the site allow us to appreciate the complexity of the place, which despite being small in size and whose importance seems to have been diluted in time and oblivion, is now re-emerging thanks to archaeological research.

  2. Laqo is the original name of this archaeological site better known as the Temple of the Moon. A few years ago, archaeologists found here the bodies of eight children who might have been sacrificed in Inca times. These children could have been the servants or Capac Qochas of Amaro Topa Inca, Pachacuteq´s offspring and Tupac Yupanqui´s brother.

About Cusco

Cusco, the old Inca capital high in the Peruvian Andes, blends massive stone walls with colonial churches and is the gateway to Machu Picchu.

The Plaza de Armas is the heart of the city, framed by the cathedral and the Jesuit church of La Compañía. Inca stonework survives throughout the centre, most famously at the Qorikancha, the sun temple on which the Spanish built a monastery, and in the twelve-angled stone on Hatun Rumiyoc street. San Blas, the artisans' quarter, climbs steeply with workshops and cafés.

Top-ranked sights in Cusco: Aguas Calientes, Machu Picchu, Ollantaytambo Ruins.
