Highlights
Through this route we will visit the area of the breathtaking Asterousia Mountains. We start driving through the route of the vineyards of Crete. Our first stop is at Agios Thomas, a village at an altitude of 760 meters and with a history dating back to 1371 AD. Continuing our journey, we will cross the Messara valley, driving through olive groves before reaching the famous Monastery of Virgin Mary, Odigitria. Following a beautiful dirt road we will arrive at Matala, the village of southern Crete where the hippies lived in the 70s. Here, you will have free time to admire the village's beauty and visit the hippies' caves. Finally, we will return to the hotel through a tranquil route. This wonderful journey will leave you with memorable pictures and longing.

About Agios Nikolaos
Agios Nikolaos is a harbour town on Crete's Gulf of Mirabello, built around a small round lake and a ring of cafés, with Spinalonga island nearby.
Agios Nikolaos wraps around a hillside above Mirabello Bay in eastern Crete. At its heart is Lake Voulismeni, a small, almost circular pool linked to the harbour by a narrow channel and ringed by cafés and tavernas. Fishing boats and yachts fill the marina, and the town's small beaches, folk museum and archaeological museum lie within a short walk.
