Itinerary

  1. Our journey begins at 8:00 AM in Cusco, heading toward Limatambo. Along the way, we’ll visit two fascinating Inca archaeological sites: Quillarumiyoc and Tarawasi, both believed to have been used as astronomical observatories. After exploring these remarkable sites, we’ll continue to Limatambo for a well-deserved lunch. The adventure continues with breathtaking views of the Chonta community (3,400 masl / 11,155 ft.) and the surrounding Andean peaks. From here, we embark on a scenic 1.5-hour hike along the edge of the Apurímac Canyon, arriving at the Huaco viewpoint (3,350 masl / 10,990 ft.). This spectacular vantage point offers a prime opportunity to observe the majestic Andean condor, the world’s largest flying bird and a sacred symbol of the Incas. With some luck, we may also spot eagles, hawks, and white-tailed deer. After soaking in this unforgettable experience, we’ll begin our return to Cusco, arriving between 7:30 and 8:00 PM, depending on the pace of the group.

About Cusco

Cusco, the old Inca capital high in the Peruvian Andes, blends massive stone walls with colonial churches and is the gateway to Machu Picchu.

The Plaza de Armas is the heart of the city, framed by the cathedral and the Jesuit church of La Compañía. Inca stonework survives throughout the centre, most famously at the Qorikancha, the sun temple on which the Spanish built a monastery, and in the twelve-angled stone on Hatun Rumiyoc street. San Blas, the artisans' quarter, climbs steeply with workshops and cafés.

Top-ranked sights in Cusco: Aguas Calientes, Machu Picchu, Ollantaytambo Ruins.
