  • 5Great introduction to Dijon

Great overview of Dijon. Just the right mix of detail and overview. We liked it so much we went to Beaune the next day for a similar tour.

  • 5Good tour

This tour was worth it. You can go at your own pace, stopping where you want to and then continuing on. It was thorough, fun and easy to find the landmarks. Recommended if you prefer to do this type of tour on your own

  • 1Ruined Holiday!

Holiday booked for 23rd August but by 21st, had not received key details. Rang Plum Guide who said they would look into it. Short while later, received email saying owner had cancelled and invoice attached for refund. So frustrated that I rang the owner who said there had never been a booking as she had only considered renting with them but changed her mind. At this late stage after desperately trying to find something else, had to spend our week at home. How can this happen? Should have read more reviews than I had previously. If you ever chance booking with them, call the owner to make sure property has really been booked.

This was a great self guided tour, we will do another the same in Beaune. Being self guided we were able to stop for food that looked good in the trail.

  • 4This was an interesting...

This was an interesting and informative tour. However, we felt that it could have gone into a bit more detail in some areas.

About Dijon

Dijon, the old capital of the dukes of Burgundy, is a city of half-timbered houses, coloured tile roofs, mustard and the wine road south.

Dijon was the capital of the dukes of Burgundy, and its centre keeps their legacy in the Palace of the Dukes and Estates, whose fine arts museum holds the ducal tombs and a wide collection of paintings. The Tour Philippe le Bon climbs to a view over rooftops of coloured tiles, and half-timbered houses and mansions line streets such as Rue des Forges. A trail of markers set into the pavement leads walkers past the sights, among them the small carved owl on Notre-Dame.

Top-ranked sights in Dijon: Dijon Ducal Palace (Palais des Ducs et des Etats de Bourgogne), Hôtel de Vogüé, Jardin Darcy.
