  • 5Recommend this tour

We were in Munich for Oktoberfest but this tour was a must. It’s difficult to comprehend that experience. Our guide, Keith, was very informative.

  • 5Great history lesson

James was a good history teacher. We learned a lot there was a bit of walking, but it was flat and easy walking.

  • 5Reverent, Respectful, Educational

For such a serious topic, our tour guide James made this an almost pleasant experience. His historical knowledge was welcome and appreciated, and his philosophy of honoring the victims rather than dwelling on the perpetrators set the tone for the day. Highly recommend.

About Munich

Munich is the Bavarian capital, with a rebuilt old town, beer gardens, royal palaces and the Alps visible on clear days to the south.

Marienplatz, the main square, is overlooked by the neo-Gothic New Town Hall, whose Glockenspiel chimes with mechanical figures, and by the twin onion-domed towers of the Frauenkirche. The Viktualienmarkt close by is a food market with a beer garden. The Residenz, the former home of Bavaria's rulers, has lavish halls and a treasury, and Nymphenburg Palace stands in a park to the west.

Top-ranked sights in Munich: Neuschwanstein Castle, Marienplatz, Odeonsplatz.
