The Evening Classic Food Tour is probably the closest thing you will find to a "crash course" on Portuguese cuisine! During your Evening Food Tour you will visit 3/4 different restaurants/taverns in the Algarve, and taste around 10 of the most traditional dishes in Portugal. The Morning Market Tour offers a chance as well to visit one of the town's markets prior to your food tour, so if you are also looking for a great insight on local food and its ingredients, you can join us on our first tour of the day.

  • 1Huge Disappointment & not Worth the $$$$

We were very disappointed in this tour. For almost $600CAD for 4 people, this was not worth the money. We have done food tours all over the world and this was the worst one. The first 2 stops were ok - authentic Portuguese. However, the last stop is what ruined it. We were taken to a commercial tourist trap restaurant on the boardwalk and served a small portion of tempura green beans (?) and “octopus stew” in a pot to share, as well as 2 tiny slices of cake to be shared between 4 people. The stew was mostly beans and not enjoyable. I feel like this last stop was an afterthought. The amount of money spent on the 4 of us in food was likely no more than $150. This was a huge rip off and we wouldve been better off doing our own self-guided tour. Would not recommend.

  • 5Excellent tour and tour guide

A very enjoyable and entertaining afternoon with the excellent Sophie as our guide. There were 8 people in our group, and Sophie managed us wonderfully. Excellent selection of food in different restaurants, and a (somewhat surprisingly!) great experience in the food market. Highly recommended.

This was a great food walking tour with plenty of food. The food was delicious, especially the razor clams. We tried so many different kinds of authentic Portuguese dishes. Highly recommend and our guide Sophie was excellent.

About Lagos

Lagos is a walled Algarve port with golden sea cliffs, sheltered coves, a gilded baroque church and a history of Portuguese navigators.

Lagos lies on the western Algarve coast, where the River Bensafrim meets the Atlantic. Its old town is enclosed by 16th-century walls and has narrow lanes, whitewashed houses and the small Santo António church, whose interior is a mass of gilded baroque carving. Explorers sailed from the harbour in the 15th century in the age of Henry the Navigator, and a statue of the prince stands in the square. The former Slave Market recalls a dark chapter of the Age of Discovery.
