Itinerary
Departure: Port of Saint-Jean-de-Luz Mythical port of the Basque Country, today fishing still remains the main activity there.
We will follow the Basque cornice, a protected natural area, located between Hendaye and Ciboure. Today the hiking trail that winds around this cliff is closed to the public because of its fragility. We will have the chance to discover these Flysch cliffs from the sea.
Then head towards Hondarribia and therefore the start of the Spanish coast. Hondarribia is home to one of the most important fishing ports on the Basque coast. A little further on we will discover the bay of Los Frailes and the Amuitz islet, the water there is often transparent and very calm.
Jaizkibel offers spectacular views of the ocean and the Basque coast. Travelers will admire wild cliffs, natural heaths and unique panoramas, while enjoying a moment of contemplation in the heart of raw and unspoilt nature. It will also be the time for swimming!
On the way back the boat ride will continue with the visit the bay of Loia, a small French pearl accessible only by sea and dominated by the castle of Abbadia. It was Antoine d'Abbadie, French Traveler and Astronomer, who had this castle built between 1864 and 1870.
Below the castle, we can admire the 2 Jumeaux, emblematic rocks. These two sentinels who watch over the open sea have resisted the onslaught of the ocean.
We will take a short detour to the port of Socoa dominated by its fort, a historical treasure of the Basque country and witness to a rich and captivating history.

About Biarritz
Biarritz is a seaside resort on France's Basque coast, with surf beaches, Belle Époque villas and the Pyrenees inland.
Biarritz began as a fishing and whaling village and became fashionable when Empress Eugénie, wife of Napoleon III, built a summer villa here in the 1850s, now a grand hotel above the Grande Plage. Rocks and small coves line the shore, and the Rocher de la Vierge, a rock topped by a statue and joined to the shore by a footbridge, is the town's symbol. Belle Époque villas, a lighthouse and a Russian Orthodox church complete the scene.
