Highlights
The American Prohibition Museum, located in Savannah's City Market, is the first and only museum in the United States dedicated to the history of Prohibition. While here, self-guided guests will travel back in time to the early 1900s, as anti-alcohol rallies swept the nation and the “booze problem” was pushed to the forefront of American politics. The true story of America’s struggle with the liquor question, the passing of the 18th Amendment, its impact on the nation, and the far-reaching consequences of the 13 years of Prohibition all come to life within the walls of the American Prohibition Museum. Upgrade to the Guided Tour Option or the Guided Tour & Cocktail Experience option. Each will give you a fully guided 45-minute tour. The Guided Tour option also includes a period-accurate cocktail or mocktail. The Guided Tour & Cocktail Experience option includes a bartending experience in our speakeasy tasting an Old Fashioned and MAKING a Bees Knees!

5Fun Savannah Museum
This is such a fun museum for a quick overview of the prohibition error. It covers everything from the local history to the famous gangsters like prohibition. One of my favorite parts was learning about Carrie Nation. I’ve been to Carrie Nation cocktail club in Boston but I didn’t realize she was a famous prohibition era figure. At the end of the museum, you can enter a speakeasy.
1Frustrated visitor
The museum says that last tours begin at 4:15 p.m. We went first to the Pirate Museum then walked up to the Prohibition Museum exactly at 4:15 p.m. and the doors were already closed and locked. Tried to call but only got some ticket seller in another location who couldn't help us. Seems somebody wanted to go home early because it was Saturday. Trying now to get my money back.

The tour guide was very good, the museum displays were interesting to read. The wax figures were real looking.

Interesting facts about prohibition era. Fun bar!
5Great Guided Tour with Serena
Where do we start! This is one of the coolest museums I’ve been too. It is really more of an experience. I thought it would be tacky but it was very tasteful and informative. I would suggest taking the guided tour to get the best out of the museum. Our guide Serena was such an engaging character. She even used a period correct accent! Very committed to delivering a great guest experience. The content of the museum covers both sides of the wet and dry movements. Really interesting part of history in the heart of Savannah!!
4What I Didn't Know
The guided museum tour with Ethan was really informative. The cocktail at the end didn't hurt either. It convinced us to book the cocktail class that evening with Jackson. Time flew! So many things I didn't know about the drinks we've been enjoying for years!

About Savannah
Savannah is a Georgia coastal city of oak-shaded squares, Spanish moss, cobbled riverfront streets and beautifully kept Southern architecture.
Savannah was founded in 1733 by James Oglethorpe as the first city of the colony of Georgia, and he laid it out on a grid built around small public squares. Twenty-two of the squares survive, shaded by live oaks draped in Spanish moss and filled with fountains and monuments. Forsyth Park, with its white fountain, is the largest green space in the historic district, and the Cathedral of St John the Baptist rises with twin spires.
