Experience the best of Guelmim

Guelmim lies at the foot of the Anti-Atlas mountains, on the edge of the desert, and its streets are shaded by palms and low houses. The town's weekly camel market draws herders and traders from the desert and the mountains, and it is a busy gathering.

The Anti-Atlas hills rise to the north and east, dry and rocky, with argan trees and small oases in the valleys. The long, empty Plage Blanche on the Atlantic lies about an hour's drive away, and Tan-Tan lies further south-west across the desert plains.

Saharan cooking here uses camel meat, a regional speciality, along with tagine, couscous and dates from the oases, and mint tea is served at every meal. The climate is hot and dry, and summer temperatures can top 40 degrees. Spring and autumn are the most pleasant times to visit.
