Experience the best of Casoria

Casoria is a town in the Metropolitan City of Naples, a few kilometres north of the city centre, set on the flat plain that the Romans called Campania Felix for its rich volcanic soil. It is a densely built residential town, part of the continuous sprawl around Naples, and it is more a base for the region than a destination in itself.

Naples is the main reason to be here: its historic centre, the National Archaeological Museum, the royal palace of Capodimonte and the waterfront are all a short journey south. Beyond the city lie Mount Vesuvius, the excavated Roman towns of Pompeii and Herculaneum, the volcanic Phlegraean Fields and the Bay of Naples with its islands.

Campania's cooking is the draw: pizza, the layered pastry called sfogliatella, fried street snacks, ragù simmered slowly on Sundays, and buffalo mozzarella from the plains of Caserta and Salerno. Coffee is drunk standing at the bar, and bakeries open early. Winters are mild and damp and summers are hot, so cooler months suit walking in the city.
