Covering more ground than on other guided tours, your archaeologist guide will take you through the ancient city that was decimated by the explosion of Mount Vesuvius nearly 2,000 years ago. Follow them through the UNESCO World Heritage site to see the amazing ruins of ancient shops, temples, homes and more. As an active archaeological site, there is always something to discover and your in-the-know guide will take you to the latest excavations. Wrap up with a walk along the city walls for sweeping views of Naples and Capri. Your small-group tour is limited to 15 people in order to ensure a more personal experience. Explore more of Pompeii than you would on any other guided tour, with a trained archaeologist. Upon meeting up with your guide and small group, you’ll skip the long lines to enter the ruins. Hear fascinating stories about life in the Roman Republic and see how ordinary people lived nearly 2,000 years ago. See the remains of a bakery where the food is still almost intact, the Temple of Apollo and the Roman Forum, the House of Vetti, an ancient supermarket, a cemetery, and even a brothel (if age appropriate). Marvel at the heart-wrenching plaster casts of those caught in the eruption at the exact moment of their death. About a third of Pompeii remains uncovered and excavations and preservation efforts are ongoing. Your expert guide adapts their itinerary as new discoveries are made. 5Pompeii
Vitale was a great guide. The tpur was amazing.
5Top notch
This tour is well worth the money. Our guide Vitale was AMAZING. He was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We enjoyed every moment.
5So happy I booked this tour, would recommend!
I don't typically book a guided tour when I travel and I was so happy that I did for Pompei! Our guide was fantastic. She gave us information at a perfect pace and despite it being one of the first rainy days in months, it didn't feel like the experience was reduced at all. If anything it was probably better from having a smaller crowd. I would recommend booking this tour for moving with a manageable size group. The biggest benefit for me was having a guide direct us where to go and in what order. I would not have had as good of an experience had I tried to wander around myself - but we also were able to go explore further on our own once the guided tour was over, so best of both options! I would book this one again.
5Our tour guide was...
Our tour guide was Fredericka. Pompeii covers a lot of ground and she took us to many, many interesting sites. She’s a wealth of information and her English is very good. A great educator. At the end of the tour, we had a few questions and she answered them with pleasure. Highly recommend this tour and hope you have the fortune of getting Fredericka as your guide.
5Walks Devour is great!
Illaria was wonderful and made the tour so much more interesting! Pompei without a quite would be a shame.
5Learning has never been so fun
This was hands down our favorite tour of our trip. Ilaria, our guide, is wonderful, passionate and so knowledgeable. We could’ve wandered the streets of Pompeii with her for many more hours. I highly recommend this tour!

About Pompeii
Pompeii is a Roman town near Naples frozen in ash when Mount Vesuvius erupted in AD 79, with streets, villas and frescoes preserved beneath the volcano.
Pompeii was a thriving Roman town when Vesuvius buried it under ash and pumice in AD 79. Excavation, begun in the eighteenth century, has uncovered paved streets with stepping stones, shops, bakeries, bathhouses and the forum. The amphitheatre, among the oldest Roman ones to survive, and the grand House of the Faun show the range of life, and plaster casts of the dead record the final moments of some residents.
Top-ranked sights in Pompeii: Pompeii Archaeological Site, Stabian Baths (Terme Stabiane), Via dell’Abbondanza.
