The marina is the centre of town, lined with restaurants, bars and boats heading out for fishing, snorkelling and sunset cruises. From there, a short boat ride reaches Land's End and El Arco, the rock arch where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific, along with Lover's Beach and a colony of sea lions on the rocks.
Médano Beach, the town's main strand, has calm water for swimming and a buzz of beach bars, while the nightlife around the marina runs late. Humpback whales pass offshore in winter, and the snorkelling bays of Santa María and Chileno lie a short drive along the coast.
Cabo San Lucas is part of the wider Los Cabos area, which also takes in the quieter town of San José del Cabo. The weather is sunny and dry for most of the year, with the hottest and wettest weeks in late summer and early autumn.
