Experience the best of Boscobel

Boscobel lies on the north coast of Jamaica in the parish of St Mary, east of the resort town of Ocho Rios, where hills covered in bananas, pimento and coconut palms drop to a coast of small coves and reefs. The small airport on this stretch of coast is named for the author Ian Fleming.

Fleming wrote the James Bond novels at his house, Goldeneye, at Oracabessa, a few minutes' drive east, and the association gives this stretch its character. The playwright Noël Coward's hilltop home, Firefly, stands above Port Maria further along the coast. Ocho Rios, with Dunn's River Falls, is the nearest large resort, and the Blue Mountains rise across the island to the south.

Food here means jerk: roadside pits smoke chicken and pork over pimento wood, and fishing beaches sell fried snapper with bammy and festival, a sweet fried dumpling. The north coast stays green because it catches the trade-wind rain. The driest months run from December to April.
