Experience the best of Batemans Bay

Batemans Bay lies where the Clyde River meets the Tasman Sea, with a road bridge over the estuary and a marina lined with boats. The town is a base for the Eurobodalla coast, a run of surf beaches, lakes and small fishing villages between Sydney and the Victorian border.

To the north, Murramarang National Park has forest tracks and beaches such as Pebbly Beach, where eastern grey kangaroos graze on the sand. The old gold and timber village of Mogo lies a few minutes south, with craft shops and a small zoo, and the coast road continues to Moruya and Narooma. Inland, the highway climbs through the forest of Clyde Mountain towards Braidwood and Canberra.

Oysters grown in the Clyde and nearby estuaries are the local speciality, eaten fresh beside prawns and fish and chips near the wharf. Humpback and southern right whales pass offshore in winter and spring, a sight often watched from the headlands.
