Experience the best of Agnes Water

Agnes Water is a small beach town on Queensland's Discovery Coast, between Bundaberg and Gladstone, joined to the neighbouring settlement of Seventeen Seventy. Agnes Water has an ocean surf beach, which is unusual this far up the Queensland coast, while Seventeen Seventy sits on a sheltered creek and inlet, and its name recalls Captain Cook's landing at Bustard Bay in May 1770.

Lady Musgrave Island, a coral cay in the southern Great Barrier Reef, has a lagoon for snorkelling and a turtle nesting beach in the warmer months, and boats cross to it from the marina at Seventeen Seventy. Eurimbula and Deepwater National Parks protect beaches, dunes, creeks and coastal heath around the town, and the Bustard Head lighthouse stands on a headland in Deepwater.

Seafood is landed along this coast, and the farms of the Bundaberg region supply sugar, tomatoes and macadamia nuts to local cafés and markets. Afternoon storms roll through in the humid summers, and winters are dry and mild.
