About Regensburg
Regensburg is a medieval city on the Danube in Bavaria, with a Roman past, a twelfth-century stone bridge and a Gothic cathedral with twin spires.
Regensburg stands where the Regen joins the Danube, at the river's most northerly point. Romans founded a legion camp here in 179 AD, and the old town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, preserves tall medieval merchant towers, narrow lanes and churches from the Middle Ages. The Stone Bridge, built in the twelfth century, still crosses the river on sixteen arches.
