Next, we stroll to the picturesque Altstadt neighborhood, where we’ll admire the elegant Church of St. Ignatius. Spend 30 minutes soaking in the baroque artistry and peaceful atmosphere — a quiet pause before more discoveries.
Then it’s off to the stunning St. Augustine’s Church, a masterpiece of rococo design. Here, for another 30 minutes, we’ll marvel at the intricate details and vibrant colors — a true feast for the eyes and your camera
Our journey continues with a visit to the famous Wooden Tower, one of Mainz’s three surviving medieval towers. We’ll spend 30 minutes uncovering why it’s called “wooden” when it’s mostly stone — a fun secret waiting for you!
We finish our guided tour at the majestic Mainz Cathedral in the heart of the market square. Spend about 2 hours here exploring the Romanesque architecture and soaking in the vibrant city life. You’ll also get 1.5 hours of free time afterward to wander the streets, grab a bite, or just relax before we head back to Frankfurt. About Frankfurt
Frankfurt is a river city in Hesse, a financial centre of glass towers beside a rebuilt old town, with museums along the Main and apple-wine taverns.
Frankfurt am Main stands on the river Main, and its cluster of skyscrapers, nicknamed Mainhattan, gives it a skyline unusual for Germany. The old town square, the Römerberg, with its half-timbered houses and the stepped-gable Römer town hall, was reconstructed after the bombing of 1944. The Kaiserdom, a red sandstone cathedral, was the coronation church of Holy Roman emperors, and the Paulskirche saw Germany's first freely elected parliament meet in 1848.
Top-ranked sights in Frankfurt: Römerberg Square, Lake Titisee, Frankfurt Cathedral (Frankfurter Dom).
