Itinerary

  1. Come with us to one of the most beautiful destinations in Germany: The Middle Rhine Valley. The very spectacular section of the river from Ruedesheim to St. Goarshausen is UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will see a good part of it. Tour departure and return place is Frankfurt. We leave by bus or van and you will be accompanied by an English speaking tour guide throughout the day. Only approx. one hour away from the hectic of urban living you will enjoy a magnificent panorama: the winding loops of the lower mountain ranges, the small traditional villages, the steep terraces of the vineyards and so many medieval castles on both sides of the banks.

    1 h

  2. We will take a lovely and relaxing ride on one of the steamer boats on the river. It is just one of the highlights during this excursion with an average duration of 1 to 1,5 hours. Close to the river edge: Our restaurant for lunch (full day) or dinner (half day), an extraordinary, richly decorated place place and a good choice for a light or hearty meal in between. Your tour guide will let you know more. Also included: an entertaining lesson in the history of wine growing dating back to ancient Roman times taking place in a cosy tavern along with some small tastes of local wines.

    4 h

  3. Only Full day tour ============= In summer time we also offer to join an "open air" cable car ride from the top of the hills into the valley - a short but great experience. The ride is not included in the tour price and can be booked on the spot against a small fee. And finally: if time allows, we will also drive up the hills as well for a view over the Rhine valley - a perfect chance to take home some photos from this beautiful landscape.

    1 h

  • 5Good Experience

We enjoyed the trip, although it could have been even better if we had been able to take the cruise. Unfortunately, the river’s water level was too low, so we visited the castle instead. Food served during lunch was good. We also love the wine tasting experience. The tour guide and driver were very helpful in assisting my mother, who uses a wheelchair. The guide was very knowledgeable about the places we visited and had a great sense of humor. Overall, we had a wonderful experience and truly appreciated their kindness and assistance throughout the trip.

  • 4Rhine Valley 'boat' tour

We were glad to have good tours arranged for our reunion groups of cousins with 2 children ahead of our trip. We were disappointed that the Rhine river was too low to have our boat cruise part of the tours and were not informed of this change by the day ahead (at least) when we did call Viator to reconfirm the plan. So, we did spend too much time in the bus as the alternative but it was good to see the extra castle option. The guide, Willie, was very good at providing information about sights and the areas that we passed through.

  • 5Great Experience!

On time pick up in Frankfurt. Michael was safe driver and an entertaining host the entire way. Good way to get out of the city for an activity. True the river was lacking in water level, however it was still a treat to sea the sights from the vessel.

  • 3Always check river conditions

The weather was a clear, beautiful fall day but almost half the 7 hours was spent sitting in a bus. The restaurant was fine as well as the wine tasting and castle tour but the day was tarnished by the cancellation of the Rhine river cruise. Viator does have a very generous cancellation policy up to 24 hours in advance of the event so be sure to do some research a day or two earlier before committing yourself.

  • 1We paid for a Rhine River...

We paid for a Rhine River cruise, instead we got a bus tour. We got at least 4 emails from Viator reminding us of the RIVER CRUISE and no notification of change of activity. They did not let us know until we got on the meeting point that the river cruise was cancelled because not enough water on the river and instead we will use bus tour to visit a medeival castle. We were ripped off. We paid over $388 for 2 people to go to a restaurant and a medeival castle. Waste of my hard earned money! Deceptive marketing! Other tours cancelled their tours totally like Viking because they are honest and did not want to ruin their reputation. This one didn’t. They took our money and didn’t deliver what we bought - a river cruise on the Rhine!

  • 4Be aware that the water...

Be aware that the water level on the Rhine is at historic lows, thus your will definitely not have the opportunity to enjoy the boat ride.

About Frankfurt

Frankfurt is a river city in Hesse, a financial centre of glass towers beside a rebuilt old town, with museums along the Main and apple-wine taverns.

Frankfurt am Main stands on the river Main, and its cluster of skyscrapers, nicknamed Mainhattan, gives it a skyline unusual for Germany. The old town square, the Römerberg, with its half-timbered houses and the stepped-gable Römer town hall, was reconstructed after the bombing of 1944. The Kaiserdom, a red sandstone cathedral, was the coronation church of Holy Roman emperors, and the Paulskirche saw Germany's first freely elected parliament meet in 1848.

Top-ranked sights in Frankfurt: Römerberg Square, Lake Titisee, Frankfurt Cathedral (Frankfurter Dom).
