About Svolvær
Svolvær is the main town of the Lofoten islands in Arctic Norway, a fishing harbour of red cabins beneath jagged peaks and the twin-horned Svolværgeita.
Svolvær sits on the island of Austvågøya, in the Lofoten archipelago, beyond the Arctic Circle. Red and ochre fishermen's cabins stand on stilts along the harbour, wooden racks for drying cod fill the shoreline in winter, and steep peaks rise directly behind the town. The twin-horned summit of the Svolværgeita, the Svolvær Goat, is visible from the harbour and is a classic climbing challenge.
