Itinerary
We'll begin here on Houston Street before heading into the heart of SoHo's cast-iron district.
A hidden site-specific art installation — 250 cubic yards of soil filling a SoHo loft, on permanent display since 1977. We'll stop to see it and talk about SoHo's transformation from industrial lofts to artist colony.
One of SoHo's finest cast-iron facades, a classic stop for photographing the neighborhood's architectural character.
Another permanent site-specific installation — 500 polished brass rods arranged in a precise grid, viewable from the doorway.
A nonprofit contemporary art space dedicated entirely to drawing, one of SoHo's most respected small galleries.
Optional stop for a pastry break — I'll point out their Lumaca pastry, a local favorite.
The real Tribeca firehouse used as the exterior of the Ghostbusters firehouse in the original films — one of the most recognizable movie locations in New York.
A striking modern high-rise nicknamed the "Jenga Building" for its stacked, staggered glass floors — a favorite photo stop in Tribeca.
A historic Tribeca landmark building, once home to the city's commodities exchange.
One of the most photographed hidden spots in Tribeca — a narrow enclosed bridge connecting two historic buildings above a quiet cobblestone alley.
We'll end the tour here at this historic clock in a small Tribeca plaza, marking the close of our SoHo and Tribeca walk.
