Highlights

If you have limited time and little interest in ancient Chinese history, this private tour covering the 3 highlights of Xi'an is definitely your best choice. In the morning at 8 am, your guide and driver will meet you in the hotel lobby and start the tour. You will visit the ancient Xi'an City Wall, the longest and only intact one remaining from ancient times. If you prefer not to visit the wall, we can take you to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda instead, which showcases much of the history of Buddhism and is a landmark in Xi'an. Then, you will drive 1 hour to the Terracotta Warriors to see this exciting "Eighth Wonder of the World." After the visit, you will have a lunch break on your own. Then, you will head back to the city to walk around the Muslim Quarter. If you wish, there is a traditional Chinese-style grand mosque you can visit. After that, you will be driven back to the hotel. The guide can also recommend some activities for your free time.

Itinerary

  1. You are expecting 7000 life size terracotta warriors all in the real battle formation, which were buried underground over 2200 years (recommended visiting time: 2.5 hours with lots of flat walking). The Museum visit includes three original pits, Pit 1 as the main force, Pit 2 as the Flexible Troupe and Pit 3 as Command Center. There is also an exhibition hall for different exhibitions from time to time. This is definitely a treasure house to study the history of the first dynasty of China, the Qin Dynasty.

  2. Xi'an city wall is the only intact city wall kept in China and is now the landmark of Xi'an. With the length of 13.74 kilometers, the wall is in a rectangular shape in a perfect defense system. By ascending the wall, you can see the moat, the arrow tower and the watch towers and the water drainage system. If you hotel is close by and you want to do the wall by yourselves, this site can be replaced by Big Wild goose Pagoda.

  3. Most Muslims came to Xi'an along the Silk Road in Tang Dynasty (600-900AD). They studied, worked and intermarried with the local people and settled here until now. In this area, you will see a great deal of foreign spices, many Muslim restaurants and some souvenirs as well.

  4. If you want to do the city wall by yourselves, you can visit the pagoda instead. The Giant Wild Goose Pagoda is located in the Da Ci'en Temple(Great Mercy Temple). It is a pagoda with a history of more than 1,300 years. This was once the place where the famous Tang Dynasty monk Xuanzang(Tripitaka) translated Buddhist scriptures, and the spread of Buddhism in China also began here.

About Xian

Xi'an, capital of many Chinese dynasties and the start of the Silk Road, is home to the Terracotta Army and intact Ming city walls.

The Terracotta Army, found by farmers digging a well in 1974, stands in vast pits outside the city: thousands of life-size clay warriors, horses and chariots buried to guard the tomb of Qin Shi Huang, China's first emperor. Each figure has its own face, and the scale is staggering.

Top-ranked sights in Xian: Emperor Qinshihuang’s Mausoleum Site Museum (Terracotta Warriors), Xi'an City Wall (Chengqiang), Big Wild Goose Pagoda (Dayanta).
