  2. Phoenix see is an artificial lake of about 24 hectares on the former steelworks site Phoenix-Ost in Dortmund's Hörde district. It was and is discussed as a showcase project for the structural transformation of the city of Dortmund and the Ruhr region.

  3. The Dortmunder U, also known as the U Tower, is a high-rise building erected in 1926/1927 as the "fermentation and storage cellar" of the Dortmunder Union Brewery on the western edge of Dortmund City. The name is derived from the brewery's logo, which was applied to the main tower in 1968 and completely restored in 2008: a four-sided, nine-meter-high, gilded and illuminated "U" designed by architect Ernst Neufert. Nowadays it is the Dortmund center for art and creativity

    30 min

  4. The Botanical Garden Rombergpark in Dortmund-Brünninghausen is a botanical garden of the city of Dortmund, whose special features are its arboretums, and its collections of woody plants.

    30 min

  5. The Florianturm, or Florian for short, is a landmark visible from afar and characterizes the skyline of the city of Dortmund as a landmark. The observation and television tower was erected in 1959 on the occasion of the Federal Horticultural Show in Westfalenpark with a height of 219.3 meters.

About Dortmund

Dortmund is a Ruhr city in North Rhine-Westphalia with an industrial past, a famous football club and a brewing tradition, set among parks and lakes.

Dortmund grew on coal, steel and beer, and its centre was rebuilt after the war around the medieval churches of St Reinold, St Peter and St Mary. The Dortmunder U, a former brewery tower crowned with a gold letter U, now houses an arts centre. The Westfalenpark has gardens and a TV tower with a viewing platform, and the Westfalenstadion, home of Borussia Dortmund, is among the largest football stadiums in Germany.

Top-ranked sights in Dortmund: German Football Museum (Deutsches Fussball Museum), Signal Iduna Park.
