Itinerary

  1. Upon arrival in Chichen Itza, our visit will begin at the Sacred Cenote, site of offerings and Mayan rituals. Continue to the Temple of Kukulcan (The Castle) to decipher the astronomical precision and secrets of this iconic structure. Then we will explore the Great Ball Game Court, the largest in Mesoamerica, to understand its ritual meaning. During the tour, the certified guide in archaeology and history will accompany the group sharing the wealth of the site and answering each of your questions.

    2 h

  2. After the archaeological visit, we will move to an impressive semi-open cenote whose collapsed roof allows the sunlight to penetrate spectacularly, creating a visual effect on its crystal clear waters. During our stay, we will discover the origin of these bodies of water and their close relationship to the impact of the asteroid that extinguished the dinosaurs and shaped the Yucatan Peninsula. We will learn how the geology of the region led to the formation of the world’s largest underground river network, understanding both the sacred role that cenotes had as portals to the underworld in pre-Hispanic cultures, and their vital ecological and supply function today.

    1 hAdmission included

  3. To conclude our day, we will visit a real local family to enjoy a truly representative meal of the region. We will taste dishes made using the ancestral technique of the píb, a traditional slow cooking method in underground oven deeply rooted in local communities. Food is prepared with fresh, organic ingredients, many of them grown by the family in their gardens. Beyond delighting in the indigenous flavors of Yucatán, this meeting will provide us with a unique opportunity to learn about the daily life of the contemporary Mayan people, their cultural resistance and the preservation of their culinary traditions throughout history.

About Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen is a relaxed Riviera Maya beach town with a buzzing pedestrian avenue, white sand, and cenotes, reefs and ruins close by.

Quinta Avenida, the town's long pedestrian street, runs parallel to the beach and is lined with shops, cafés, restaurants and bars that stay busy late. The beaches are wide and white, with Punta Esmeralda a local favourite for its shallow lagoon, and the water is warm and clear for much of the year.

Top-ranked sights in Playa del Carmen: Rio Secreto Nature Reserve, Fifth Avenue (Quinta Avenida), Cirque du Soleil Joya.
