  • 3Nice guides, not the best experience in the island.

The tour guide was nice and friendly, but the attraction wasn’t ideal. Tons of mosquitoes in that area, we couldn’t really approach the lights. Also it was cloudy so we couldn’t take any pictures, and couldn’t see the stars. The highlight of the tour was the taxi through the island.

  • 3Bioluminescence

It was very cool to see the bioluminescence. Our guide was friendly. The experience was fairly quick. More time was spent transporting to the site and back to our accommodation.

Wonderful tour! Pablo was friendly, knowledgeable and even helped with photographing the stars! It’s a magical hour and the bioluminescence didn’t disappoint.

  • 5Amazing experience

We really enjoyed this trip. We were picked up from the hotel by our friendly guide and driven to the bay. Be prepared to get into the water up to below knee height to be able to see the bioluminescence, we had plenty of time to splash around looking at it. It was an amazing experience and thoroughly recommend it.

  • 5Great nature experience!!

We had a really unique experience with a very relaxed and qualified guide (Carlos). The bioluminescene are hard to catch with your camera, but even more unique to experience with your own eyes. Also the bright stars and milkyway are great to add on your bucketlist! Antine & Wouter from Holland.

About Isla Holbox

Isla Holbox is a car-free sand island off the north coast of the Yucatán peninsula, with shallow turquoise water, flamingos and whale sharks in summer.

Isla Holbox lies off the northern tip of the Yucatán peninsula in Quintana Roo, separated from the mainland by a shallow lagoon and reached by a short ferry crossing from the village of Chiquilá. The streets are made of sand, and golf carts and bicycles take the place of cars. Colourful murals cover the walls of the small town, and a long beach of pale sand and warm shallow water runs along the island.
