The journey then takes us onto the Nations Capital city Bern. First for a panaromic view over the city, visit the Rosengarden, a beautiful park with over 250 varieties of roses on offer in summer. Park at the famous Bear enclosure and see the symbol of the city who have been here since the 15th century. Visit the 15th century built gothic style Cathedral, the tallest church at 100m and stroll past a house where Einstein lived in the early 1900s. You will then be infront of the Zytglogge (Clock Tower) ideally on the hour. If you want to cool off, why not join the locals and swim or float in the River Aare.

About Lucerne

Lucerne is a compact Swiss lake city with a covered wooden bridge, a medieval wall and a ring of mountains, in the heart of Switzerland.

Lucerne sits at the northern end of Lake Lucerne, where the Reuss River flows out under two old wooden bridges. The Chapel Bridge, with its stone water tower and painted roof panels, dates from the fourteenth century, although it was partly rebuilt after a fire in 1993. The old town has painted house fronts, squares and the twin-spired Jesuit church, and the Museggmauer, a wall with nine towers, closes it to the north.

Top-ranked sights in Lucerne: Lake Lucerne (Vierwaldstättersee), Lucerne Old Town, Mt. Pilatus.
