4worthwhile couple of hours
Perfect small trip - more history than expected. Wasn’t interested in the Jay Z partnership that featured heavily - this was just marketing
5When history meets gastronomy
Excellent visit, between history and gastronomy. The site is very nice, authentic and full of memories. It looks like Francois 1er spirit is still in the Castle. The visit of the caves and cognac barrels is authentic. The scent of cognac is everywhere. The tasting is also a very nice experience in a very fancy room. We can feel some marketing but no pressure to buy anything. A very nice experience overall!
4Good Cognac Tour
Beautiful château, informative tour, and excellent tasting of D’USSÉ and Baron Otard cognacs. Staff were friendly and professional. Only downside, the tour felt a bit rushed at the end. Overall, a great experience and definitely worth visiting.
5A great tour
A good informative tour. Very interesting. Not good for you if you are not ok with stairs or dim lighting. We enjoyed it our visit especially the tasting.
5Cognac castle tour
Very interesting. Quite a bit of walking. Very knowledgeable English speaking guide. Thoroughly recommend this tour.
5Least known brand for us but was excellent
We ended up doing multiple tours in Cognac and hit most/all of the more well known brands. The difference here was the historical castle and the barrels stored the more traditional way. Most of the others have moved a lot of the facilities outside the city and this gave the impression of the way it has been done for years. Our guide was really informative and like the others, the product tasting is always a highlight. If you have time to do multiple tours, I would include this as an option.

About Cognac
Cognac is a quiet town on the Charente River in south-west France, home of the brandy that bears its name, with ageing cellars and a medieval old centre.
Cognac stands on the Charente, in the heart of the vineyards of the Charente département. The town gave its name to the brandy distilled from white wine in copper pot stills and aged in French oak, and merchant houses line the river with long cellars. Their walls are stained black by a fungus that feeds on the spirit evaporating from the barrels, the so-called angels' share. Francis I, king of France, was born in the town's château in 1494.
