Itinerary

  1. On arrival, after a brief introductory and safety session, your 45-minute guided tour will begin. Visit the distillery to see Appleton's copper pot stills, which give the rum a distinctive flavor, and take a look inside the ageing house, where the rum sits in oak barrels, some for up to 30 years. Learn about the prestigious history of Appleton Estate, one of the oldest distilleries in Jamaica, and hear about its fermentation process, during which sugar cane molasses and a special yeast culture combine with water that has been filtered naturally by limestone to create Appleton’s much-loved flavour. Next, it’s time for samples! In addition to the different types of Jamaican rum, try a bit of freshly pressed cane juice. Then spend a little time browsing the gift shop for souvenirs (perhaps an exclusive bottle of Appleton Estate rum that’s only sold in Jamaica?) before boarding your bus to depart the estate.

About Negril

Negril is a relaxed resort town on Jamaica's far west coast, with a long white beach, rocky cliffs, a lighthouse and some of the island's best sunsets.

Negril lies at Jamaica's western tip, split into two stretches: Seven Mile Beach on the flat coast, with soft pale sand and calm turquoise water, and the West End, where low coral cliffs drop into deep sea. A red-and-white lighthouse stands on the south-western point. The place has a laid-back feel and a reggae soundtrack, with beach bars and small hotels rather than high-rises.

Top-ranked sights in Negril: Rick's Café, Seven Mile Beach, Negril Cliffs.
