Experience the best of The Adirondacks
The Adirondacks are a forested park in northern New York, with lakes, villages and the High Peaks, among the largest protected areas in the United States.

The Adirondack Park covers about six million acres of mountains, forests and lakes, and within its boundary many villages and private lands sit beside state-owned forest. The mix of public and private land gives the park a lived-in character that a national park does not have.
The High Peaks, a group of mountains above 1,200 metres, include Mount Marcy, the state's highest point at about 1,629 metres. Lake Placid, a resort town, hosted the Winter Olympics in 1932 and 1980. Saranac Lake and Lake George are other lakes in the park, and canoe routes link chains of lakes across it.
Adirondack food is country cooking: maple syrup from sugarbush farms, apple pie, local cheese and trout from the cold streams. The park is busiest in autumn, when the foliage peaks in late September and early October. Winter brings snow sports, and summer is for lakes and hiking.
