Experience the best of Killington

Killington Peak, at about 1,290 metres the second-highest summit in Vermont, rises over the village, and the ski slopes spread across several neighbouring peaks. The Long Trail and the Appalachian Trail follow the ridge close to the top, and Gifford Woods State Park holds a stand of old-growth forest beside the road.

Rutland, the nearest city, lies in the valley to the west, and the neighbouring hills hold covered bridges, small villages and farms with maple sugarhouses. Woodstock and the Quechee Gorge, a deep river-cut ravine crossed by a road bridge, are an easy drive east.

Burgers, pizza and Vermont craft beer fill the lodges around the base after a day on the slopes, and the sugarhouses of the hills sell their syrup. Snow covers the mountain from late autumn well into spring, and the foliage in late September and October colours the whole range.
