Experience the best of Exmouth

Exmouth stands near the tip of the North West Cape, a dry limestone peninsula that pushes into the Indian Ocean in the far north-west of Western Australia. The town was founded in 1967 to serve a United States Navy communications station, and its wide streets, shops and marina now serve people who come for the reef.

Ningaloo Reef runs along the western side of the cape, close enough to swim to from the beach. Cape Range National Park has rugged limestone gorges, among them Yardie Creek, where rock-wallabies cling to the cliffs, and beaches such as Turquoise Bay, known for its drift snorkelling. Whale sharks gather offshore in autumn and winter, and humpback whales pass in spring.

Exmouth Gulf prawns, fresh fish and fish and chips by the marina are the town's food. The land around is red, dry and open, with bright sunsets over the gulf, and the winters are warm and sunny.
