Experience the best of Brooklyn
Brooklyn is New York City's most populous borough, a patchwork of brownstone streets, waterfront parks, boardwalk beaches and food markets.

Brooklyn lies across the East River from Manhattan, on the western tip of Long Island, and was a separate city until it joined New York in 1898. The Brooklyn Bridge, finished in 1883 with Gothic arches in its stone towers, has a walkway above the traffic with views of the skyline. Brownstone houses line the tree-shaded streets of Brooklyn Heights, whose promenade looks over the harbour to Lower Manhattan.
Below the bridge, Brooklyn Bridge Park and the DUMBO district have cobbled streets, converted warehouses and views. Prospect Park, designed by the creators of Central Park, holds a lake and woods, with the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and the Brooklyn Museum beside it. Williamsburg and Greenpoint have galleries, bars and weekend markets, and Coney Island has a boardwalk, a beach and an amusement park with a wooden roller coaster, the Cyclone, from 1927.
The food is as mixed as the neighbourhoods: pizza and bagels, Caribbean patties and jerk chicken in Crown Heights, Russian dishes in Brighton Beach, dim sum in Sunset Park and Polish bakeries in Greenpoint. The beaches and rooftop bars fill up from June to September.
