Starting with the Rheinische Landesmuseum, we will walk towards the Kaisertherme, an impressive and umissable Roman structure that depicts where emperors bathed at the time. Continuing towards a 'smaller collection' of imperial baths, we reach the Barbarathermen, which lead us on to the Römerbrücke. Taking a moment to marvel at the beauty of the Mosel valley, on either side of the bridge; from there, please turn around and head back into the city towards the Karl-Marx-Haus. About Trier
Trier, on the Moselle near the Luxembourg border, was a Roman imperial city, and its Porta Nigra, baths and basilica still stand among the vineyards.
Founded by the Romans around 16 BC as Augusta Treverorum, Trier claims to be the oldest city in Germany and was later one of the capitals of the western Roman empire. The Porta Nigra, a darkened sandstone gate of the second century, is the largest Roman city gate north of the Alps, and the Basilica of Constantine, a vast brick hall built as a throne room, stands near the Electoral Palace.
Top-ranked sights in Trier: Porta Nigra, Cathedral of St. Peter (Trier Cathedral), Main Market Trier (Hauptmarkt Trier).
