3This experience was ok -...
This experience was ok - not great, not terrible… but maybe not worth the price. First, the sites themselves are not spectacular. The driver added Esna, which is a reason for adding a star (that was the best stop). Edfu was underwhelming for me - but not the tours fault. I’m not sure on the price for a straight transfer, but consider you aren’t missing all that much if you aren’t already really into the history of these places and are hitting the good spots in Aswan and Luxor. The driver went 30 minutes too far from Kom Ombo, so we had to turn back 30 minutes to get there, then make up 30 minutes. Then he offered to take me on some special route for additional money that would save time - giving the benefit of the doubt on that one. No idea if that is the driver or the government? He offered to stop for drinks and sugar cane along the way but I declined because I had drinks and snacks. He offered Esna, which I didn’t know about. This was the coolest stop. He did ask for additional money because he said he received 2 tickets? It wasn’t much, but no idea on the validity of that. Because Esna wasn’t part of the original tour and the amount was nominal, didn’t think too much of it. He also asked for a tip, which felt a little weird in that tips should be voluntary and based on performance and things didn’t go perfectly. I didn’t feel ripped off because I pretty much knew the prices beforehand (except the tickets) but I also don’t know how much I paid vs just a straight transfer. Tread carefully and research if these places are something you really want to see.
5Smooth Operator
An absolutely wonderful service from Aswan to Luxor! Highly skilled and patient driver, who will additionally take you to Kom Ombo & Edfu if you so wish too. I highly recommend this service!
5Great experience
It was very good experience. The tour guide was great. The tour office is very good. Just have in mind that the road is not so good and there is posibillity seven hours to become 8 to 9.
5See the real Egypt.
If you want to see how people live in Egypt away from the cities take this trip. It is tiring but worth it. You share the road ( if you call it that) with double trucks, buses, mini vans, cars, tricycle buses, cars, motorbikes, people, horse and cart, donkeys and even hundreds of goats blocking the road. You see the people in their day to day lives and kids jumping off the bridges into the canals for fun and to cool off. Then of cause the temples , especially Edfu, along the way.
5The temples were amazing...
The temples were amazing (Edfu was so big in person!) and driving through all of the farming towns and along the Nile was truly great. My driver was lovely and supplied me with water, snacks and even took pictures of me with the sunset and Nile in the background
1I had a very poor...
I had a very poor experience with this service. My driver was 20 minutes late to start with, the driver stopped a dozen times or more to have a break. The most concerning part was that the driver was falling asleep and stopping in the middle of the road for the ENTIRE trip and in turn this entire drive took about 8.5 hours and only stopping at one temple on the way as I really just wanted the trip to be over. It was very uncomfortable as he was continuously accelerating and braking harshly while dozing off. A few bumps into other vehicles and overall was a horrible experience. Agency had to call the driver many times which seemed to be the only time he would actually drive fine but only lasted for 5-10 minutes then back to falling asleep again. Would not recommend to anyone
