Highlights

The palazzo of Baron Pasquale Revoltella - an important personality of the city. The banker promoted the economic and cultural development of Trieste in the 19th century and was instrumental in financing the Suez Canal. He bequeathed his entire fortune to the city of Trieste. His palace in the city center was considered a competitor to the Miramare Castle during his lifetime and after his death it became a museum in which his private apartments can be visited on the one hand - and next door the gallery for modern art he founded. I would be happy to show you around the rooms of the magnificent apartment of Baron Revoltella - and then you have the opportunity to visit one of the most important galleries in Italy individually. About Trieste

Trieste is an Adriatic port on Italy's border with Slovenia, a city of Habsburg-era palaces, old coffeehouses and a great square that opens onto the sea.

Trieste was the Roman town of Tergeste and became the main seaport of the Habsburg empire after it was declared a free port in 1719. Its grand centre dates from that period: Piazza Unità d'Italia, a vast square of palaces with one side open to the water, the Canal Grande, a short canal lined with cafés and a church, and the grid of the Borgo Teresiano. Above the old town, the cathedral of San Giusto and a castle crown a hill, with a Roman theatre below.

Top-ranked sights in Trieste: Piazza Unità d'Italia (Piazza Grande), Miramare Castle (Castello di Miramare).
