5Interesting Trieste!
We really enjoyed our tour of Trieste. Nour was a terrific guide. She and the tour company went out of their way to arrange the tour to what we want to see and learn before the tour date. Nour was very friendly, flexible and accommodating. We were stuck in immigration and were late for our starting time. We snuck this tour in a tiny couple of hours we had in the day. Nour was able to adjust and modify our tour and even helped us get to our train and track on time. I also want to give a shout out to Saad who helped us greatly during the day. It was great and what we were looking for.
5A great introduction to Trieste
Giaia provided a great introduction to the historically fascinating city of Trieste. She gave us an excellent account of the history and present day situation of Trieste through the lens her family and personal experience. A really valuable local guide. Our walking tour was quite strenuous, going into the old upper city and back down to the Jewish ghetto area and the Piazza Unite d’Italia. Be forewarned, you have to be in good physical shape to do the tour, but it’s very worthwhile.

About Trieste
Trieste is an Adriatic port on Italy's border with Slovenia, a city of Habsburg-era palaces, old coffeehouses and a great square that opens onto the sea.
Trieste was the Roman town of Tergeste and became the main seaport of the Habsburg empire after it was declared a free port in 1719. Its grand centre dates from that period: Piazza Unità d'Italia, a vast square of palaces with one side open to the water, the Canal Grande, a short canal lined with cafés and a church, and the grid of the Borgo Teresiano. Above the old town, the cathedral of San Giusto and a castle crown a hill, with a Roman theatre below.
