5Fantastic tour with the best guides
We wanted to experience the Mendenhall Glacier up close, and this tour did not disappoint! For late in the season, we had a perfect weather day, and the views were stunning. We were a small group so we paddled hard, but it was well worth it. Our guides were Sophie and Elymus. They were more than fantastic! From the pick up until the very end, they shared their extensive knowledge about the area, the glaciers, and the geological history. Elymus is incredibly passionate about the conservation work he does and was eager to teach us and share his knowledge. Sophie was equally eager to share her expertise with us and we really enjoyed the rock talk (yes, really!! It was a highlight)! Both guides pointed out wildlife and kept us talking and laughing throughout the entire trip. This tour is definitely a highlight from our Alaskan cruise.
5Mendenhall Glacier
Absolutely worth it. The paths were also pretty smooth for scooter/wheelchair access.
5An Unforgettable Glacier Experience
An incredible experience from beginning to end and absolutely worth it! The paddling can be a little tiring, but the breaks provided make it much easier to enjoy. Elymust and Sophie were amazing guides: friendly, energetic, and very knowledgeable. They made learning about the glacier and the area fun and engaging. Everything included in the tour was excellent, from the equipment and snacks to the short excursion to get closer to the glacier. The duration was perfect, and every minute and every penny was worth it. I honestly couldn’t have asked for better guides. 100% recommended!
5Good but can be a bit better
The tour company came on time to pick us up from the cruise terminal. The ride to Mendenhall Glacier Park was scenic and wonderful. Upon arriving at the tour location, we were given the option to switch into raincoats and boots provided by the tour company. Most chose to use the tour company's equipment. We were then given life jackets for the canoe ride on Mendenhall Glacier Lake. There were some 12 riders. We canoed across the lake. Beautiful, breathtaking views. The 2 guides were EXCELLENT! Made the canoe ride fun! The part that was a bit disappointing was not being able to get near the glacier to touch it. Based on the name of the tour, I was thinking we would get very close to the glacier. Once you arrive at the glacier area, you hike up and go to the backside. You are across from the glacier but cannot touch or walk on it. The cost of the tour does not match what you get as it relates to the Glacier. After the hike and some time near the glacier, we got back in the canoe and canoed our way to Nuggets Fall. We were right at the fall and that was one AMAZING view! I would recommend the tour company; however, I would ask that the right expectations about the glacier viewing be set. The adventure name is a bit misleading
5Exceptional day, amazing guises, breathtaking scenery!
Our Mendenhall Glacier Ice Adventure Tour was an exceptional experience!! The beauty of the lake, waterfalls, the sun coming up over the lake as we made our way across - all of it - reminded us of all the beauty in this world. Our guides Elishen and Joe were definitely a highlight of our tour as well! From the warm welcome at the van to the careful instruction and fun and educational approach to the day, you could tell how much they enjoyed what they were doing. Joy, fun, enthusiasm, love of nature, and the utmost professionalism would be the words to describe Joe and Elishen! We highly recommend Liquid Alaska Tours!!!

About Juneau
Juneau is Alaska's capital, a small harbour city beneath steep forested mountains, reachable only by air or sea and close to glaciers.
Juneau sits on the Gastineau Channel in the Alaska Panhandle, squeezed between the water and the steep slopes of Mount Juneau and Mount Roberts, with the Juneau Icefield behind. No road connects it to the rest of North America. The city grew after gold was found in 1880, and the Alaska State Capitol, a columned building of the 1930s, the octagonal Russian Orthodox church of St Nicholas and the old downtown streets recall that past.
