Highlights

Ready for the experience of a lifetime? Come on our Kayak Turtle Tour.  Tours operate daily from the south end of Palm Cove and paddle out to Double Island from there.  Once we are at Double Island, it's an incredible experience.  There are mangroves to explore, coral reefs to paddle over and even a cave to explore if the conditions are right. More often than not, the water is crystal clear.  There is an abundance of small rays and turtles swimming  through the water, and it's even possible to see dolphins, dugongs or whales on the tour, but you have to be very lucky. Kayaks, life jackets, juice, water and fruit is provided.

  • 5Fantastic kayaking with Turtles

Amazing 4 hours on the water. We had incredible weather which enhanced the experience. About 9kms of kayaking and we are novices but loved it. Very relaxed trip around Double Island from Palm Cove and we spotted turtles and dolphins.

  • 5Fantastic Tour!

The tour was absolutely fantastic. . Luke was a great guide with a lot of knowledge of the area and Gabi had some useful insights of the surroundings. Saw quite a few turtles and explored Double Island and some of its hidden treasures. Would definitely recommend the tour! Will do it again!

  • 5Outstanding

Simple booking process, Luke our guide was incredibly knowledgeable with loads of local knowledge and insights. Very considerate of our comfort and lack of ability. The journey was relaxed and very safe. We got up close with a pod of dolphins!!! Saw so many turtles, stingray and other wildlife. Thank you Luke 10/10

  • 5Awesome morning on the water.

Exhausted after a perfect day, beautiful weather and crystal-clear water. Luke looked after everyone, making sure everybody was comfortable for the 4-hour trip. Snorkeling in the sheltered bay was a bonus and lucky to see turtles and a large ray. Will definitely go again if we can pick such an amazing day.

  • 4A must-do tour.

Wild Turtles are unpredictable, but we did see some in the distance. Don't let that deter you though, as this is an amazing tour to do, the environment is stunning and the guides were great. We did run into some strong winds on the way back to the beach and if my 18 year old had not been fitter and stronger than his old man, I would have needed a rescue boat, but they do have one, so there's no need to panic (it's just I had a plane to catch real soon because the weather had been bad the last couple of days and the operators had to reschedule for safely reasons).

About Palm Cove

Palm Cove is a small beachside village north of Cairns, where old paperbark trees shade a long Coral Sea beach below rainforest-covered ranges.

Palm Cove lies on the Captain Cook Highway a short drive north of Cairns, one of a string of Northern Beaches facing the Coral Sea. The Esplanade runs behind the sand beneath tall paperbark trees, lined with low-rise resorts, restaurants and a short jetty that people stroll out on at sunrise. Behind the village, rainforest-covered ranges rise inland.
