  • 5Quarter day trip on the Animas River- highly recommended

We rafted on the Animas River and had a wonderful time! Our guide Ashton was extremely knowledgeable about navigating the river, informing us about sights along the route, providing important safety instructions, and making the trip fun - he did a fantastic job, and it was an enjoyable and memorable experience for our group.

Ashton was great at his job. He deserves every raise you can give him. 10/10 would book again and ask for him specifically. Water was amazing

  • 5Oar-Asis!

Our experience was great! We have an 8 year old and a 13 year old and both left happy! Huge thanks to Christopher L. from Tennessee who was an awesome guide! He made it fun but also made sure we knew what we were doing! Everyone at the company was very friendly and we’re glad we chose this outfit!

  • 5Never say never

We are a family with 14 year old twin boys, one who is non-verbal and autistic. There are many activities that we can’t do as a family due to our family dynamics. However Durango Rafting and Ashton (Chris) delivered a great experience for our family. One we thought not possible. Our son was treated as though he did not have the obvious limitations. Very compassionate and understanding. I highly recommend this to other families who are given the gift of a special needs kiddo. Thank you to our guides… we will cherish this memory for a life-time! • 4Rocky kayak ride down the Animas!

My wife and I did the quarter day kayak trip on the lower Animas in Durango. The guides were great and we had a really good time. Unfortunately the river was unseasonably low, so lots of time avoiding and getting stuck on rocks, which kind of slows down the fun. Also, we were the only kayakers on a trip with 3 rafts. Our guide, Ashton, did a great job of making us feel included and guiding us, but I think we would have preferred an all kayak trip.

  • 5Emelia was awesome!

Even though the water levels were low, our guide (Emelia) did an excellent job making the trip enjoyable for everyone. It was a great experience

About Durango

Durango is a Wild West railroad town in south-west Colorado, on the Animas River, known for its steam train, the San Juan Mountains and nearby Mesa Verde.

Durango was founded in 1880 as a railroad town for the silver mines of the San Juan Mountains, and its Main Avenue still has Victorian brick buildings, saloons and hotels from that time. A coal-fired narrow-gauge steam train, running since 1882, chugs up the Animas River canyon to the mining town of Silverton, through scenery of high peaks and gorges.
